It is my great pleasure to announce the next Buenos Aires Conferences on Autophagy to be held in the School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry in October 23-25, 2017.

Since 2011, Buenos Aires Conferences became the first scientific event on Autophagy in South America. The Buenos Aires Research Conferences on Autophagy 2017 is the thirst event on this topic and will cover recent and exciting developments in the field. The scientific program has a wide approach to Autophagy, its molecular mechanisms, its physiological relevance and its key participation in the pathogenesis of complex diseases, with its high impact on translational medicine. The Buenos Aires Conferences are based on its outstanding speakers. They are the straightness of the meeting. All of them are renowned scientists in the field with a long-standing record of scientific contributions. We are happy and honoured to receive each one of them in Buenos Aires.

October is spring time in Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires has over 280 theatres, more than any other city in the world. The city’s most popular and historic theatre is the Colón, which is a world-class venue for opera, ballet and classical music. With over 800 bookstores, Buenos Aires has a thriving literary culture and has produced highly prestigious authors. Its literature is dominated by the giant figures of Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortazar, who gained international acclaim for their literary fiction in the 20th century. Tango was born in the immigrant neighborhoods of Buenos Aires in the late-nineteenth century. The sensual tango is as much a way of life as it is a music and dance.

On behalf of the organizing committee of the Buenos Aires Research Conferences on Autophagy 2017, it is my honor to welcome you to Buenos Aires, where you will find outstanding science in a unique city of South America.
